A great course is one you dont want to finish or one you need to experience for yourself with a visit. It is certainly one where i felt 1545 in my mind's eye and this is down to the excitement and wonder Suzannah conveys with her huge knowledge of Tudor times and lives. The journey into places the public doesnt normally go was special and reinforced how unique the Mary Rose is. I could read a 100 books about 1545 but seeing the bowls they ate from, the implements of medicine and the weapons of war so closely is a brilliant reminder that we are all a collection of bones and artefacts waiting to be interpreted by history. Fortunately, the Mary Rose has a great guide whose empathy for Tudor times is a joy shared.

Have really enjoyed this. I wasn't sure what to expect from this course and yet it brought the whole thing alive. Just this one thing alone took me by complete surprise; real people, with real lives, owning real objects, which they cherished and looked after with great care, as anyone would do today. Suddenly my leather toilet bag with initials on it takes on a whole new personality of its own. Brush, razor, aftershave, tweezers, clippers, gels and even various creams, ( which I would rather not mention after seeing some of the 'medical' instruments.), These take on a whole new meaning, a unique personality, 500 years from now of course! It's not just what they say about you, but the fact that objects in museums, collections, drawers and cupboards, wherever they be take on a whole new meaning and world. That I hadn't expected to get from the course. I am 67 years old, love reading and have a wide range of Tudor books, but it is a complete shock to have this kind of Damascus Road experience. Thank you Suzannah, and your team, for removing the scales from my eyes and revealing the obvious, and so much more.

The series truly transports one to an era 500 years ago, yet shows how similar their world is to ours. The story starts with ideological and political strife between the Catholic Spanish and Protestant English, answered by a show of strength including by the mighty new "advanced ship" the Mary Rose, which was manned by everyday people of different nationalities as evidenced in their clothes, personal items, kitchenware, medical tools and recreational games and instruments. The series really makes history come alive. Thanks Suzannah!

Sometimes learning history truly feels like a gift.

This online tour of the Mary Rose offers insights you would never normally get to see, and even after just two episodes I've already learned so much.

Feeling very grateful for the opportunity to dive so deeply into the past.

Thank you, Suzannah, for creating this really in-depth, fascinating look at the Mary Rose and those who lived their lives onboard.

As someone in America who can't just come over to England whenever he wants to see all of these fantastic historical sites, it's such a welcome gift to be able to take a tour with you to these places you know so well.

Here's to many more wonderful trips in time!

Such an interesting series. As I live half a world away it is so interesting to see this museum and even better, the behind the scenes displays that you wouldn't get to see with a normal walkthrough.
